The best AI clipper for podcasts and long videos, with prompted clipping and a real API. Watermark-free exports need the $29 Pro plan, and it needs your footage, so brands making new ads every week will outgrow it.
OpusClip Review 2026: Pricing, Features & Alternatives
What OpusClip does, what Free, Starter and Pro cost, what changed in 2026, what users complain about, and when a clipper stops being enough for ads.

What is OpusClip?
OpusClip is the best-known AI clipping tool. Feed it a podcast, webinar, stream or YouTube video up to 10 hours long and it returns short vertical clips with captions, reframing and a virality score on each. It is made by Opusclip Inc., a Silicon Valley company founded in 2022 that raised $20M from SoftBank in March 2025 at a reported $215M valuation. The homepage claims 20M+ creators and businesses.
The name trips people up. The company writes it OpusClip, many reviews say Opus Clip, and the website lives at opus.pro, so you will also see it called Opus Pro. All three are the same product.
How OpusClip works
Upload a file or paste a link from YouTube, Zoom, Riverside, Google Drive, Vimeo, Twitch, Loom, StreamYard and about a dozen other sources. ClipAnything finds the strong moments (you can steer it with a prompt like "every time we talk about pricing"), ReframeAnything keeps the subject in frame, and captions go on automatically.
Billing is by source minutes: one credit is one minute of uploaded video, and failed projects get their credits back. From the editor you can swap B-roll, apply a brand template, then post through the built-in scheduler or export to Premiere and DaVinci.
What changed in 2026
OpusClip is turning into a broader video suite. September brought Motion Studio (prompt-generated B-roll and brand animations), lower thirds, publishing to Pinterest, Threads and Bluesky, and an official Claude connector alongside its MCP server. AI Producer, a chat-based editor for talking-head footage, is in open beta.
Agent Opus, launched in August 2025, goes furthest: it researches, scripts, voices and animates a short video from a topic. Clipping is still the reason most people sign up, though.
Key features of OpusClip
ClipAnything
Clips any genre, not just talking heads, and takes a prompt to target specific moments. Pro can clip by visual objects, sound and emotion.
Virality score
Ranks each clip by predicted performance on Starter and up, so you can post the top few instead of reviewing all of them.
ReframeAnything
AI reframing with object tracking that follows speakers or moving subjects when converting 16:9 to vertical.
Captions, B-roll and dubbing
Animated captions OpusClip claims are 97%+ accurate, AI B-roll, video dubbing and eye-contact correction on Pro.
Scheduler and API
Post to nine platforms from Pro, or automate with the Video Editing API, Scheduler API and MCP connector.
Agent Opus and Motion Studio
Generate short videos from a topic, or animated B-roll from a prompt. Both are newer and less proven than the clipper.

Where it helps, and where it doesn't.
What OpusClip does well
Best-in-class clip selection
Prompted clipping means you can ask for the moments you want instead of hoping the AI guesses. Reviewers often give it the edge over Vizard on multi-speaker footage.
Huge import list
Zoom, Riverside, StreamYard, Frame.io, Apple Podcasts and S3 links on top of the usual YouTube and Drive, with uploads up to 10 hours.
Fair credit rules
Credits come back when a project fails or stalls past 90 minutes, which is not standard in this category.
Built for automation
An API, an MCP server and a Claude connector make it one of the few clippers you can wire into an agent or content pipeline.
Where teams hit friction
Watermark-free needs Pro
Clean exports and brand templates sit on the $29 Pro plan, so Starter is mostly a trial of the clipping engine.
Billing and support complaints
Trustpilot sits at 4.0 from 510 reviews, but 20% are one-star, citing charges after cancelling, pressure to buy credits and slow support.
Free projects disappear fast
Free-plan media expires after three days, which catches out anyone who uploads on a Friday and edits the following week.
Still needs your footage
No AI actor library and no product-in-hand shots. For paid-social ads, a clipper can only recut what someone already filmed.

Affordable Quality Ads, Easy to Use
I find EzUGC to be affordable and appreciate the great quality of the video and image ads it helps create. I particularly enjoy the video quality because it ensures that what customers see online is good, leading to more conversions for me. I also find the setup to be very simple and straightforward, which was a big plus when transitioning from Canva to using EzUGC all the time.
OpusClip vs EzUGC
| Feature | OpusClip | EzUGC |
|---|---|---|
| What it makes | Short clips cut from your long videos | New UGC-style ads from a script or product |
| Needs existing footage | Yes, for clipping | No |
| AI actors | No actor library | 300+ AI actors |
| Billing unit | Source minutes (1 credit = 1 minute) | Videos per plan (50 on Startup) |
| Entry paid plan | $15/mo (Starter) | $99/mo |
| Automation | API, MCP server, Claude connector | Public API and MCP server |
| Best fit | Podcasters, streamers, video teams with a backlog | Brands testing paid-social ads weekly |
How the workflow fits in practice.
Where OpusClip earns its price
A show with hours of recorded conversation every week. Prompted clipping and the virality score turn one episode into a week of Shorts with very little manual scrubbing.
Where ad teams stall
Ads need new scripts, new hooks and a person holding your product. OpusClip can trim a testimonial you already have, but it cannot produce the next ten variations.
When EzUGC fits better
When the brief starts with a product and no footage. Pick one of 300+ AI actors, write the script, and EzUGC renders a UGC-style ad in about two minutes.

What we checked
These review pages focus on workflow fit, pricing context, and what changes when a real team tries to ship ads every week.
- Monthly prices and plan features come from OpusClip's official pricing page on the verification date. The page omits yearly prices and credit counts, so Starter and Pro minutes come from third-party plan breakdowns.
- Ratings and complaints come from OpusClip's public Trustpilot profile.
- We judge clipping tools by how much of a paid-social workflow they replace, so footage requirements count against them for ad teams.
Yes. The free plan gives 60 minutes of source video a month with exports up to 1080p, but animated caption templates carry a watermark and media is deleted after three days. Pro also has a 7-day trial.
